The Environmental Team comprises 6 groups tackling different environmental issues:

Air Quality

Air Quality is a multi-dimensional problem that has many diverse sources. These include transportation, industrial and other processes, and stationary fuel combustion. The Air Quality Group focuses on documentable sources affecting Larimer County that can be influenced by local League action. Our main emphasis is on oil and gas emissions.

Water Group

The Water Group monitors and responds to developments in regional water projects, such as the Northern Integrated Supply Project (NISP) and issues concerning area rivers, reservoirs, water rights of indigenous owners, and other local water matters -- all with a goal of keeping the community informed and ensuring accountability.

Pollinator Habitat

The Pollinator Habitat Group recognizes that pollinators are vital to food production and that their survival is in jeopardy, often due to habitat loss and pesticide use. We promote increasing the availability of critical habitat by repopulating our landscapes with regional native plants, and join other groups in advocating for pollinator survival.

Energy Group

The Energy Group promotes energy policies and practices that minimize climate and environmental impact while providing sustainable energy. We follow advances in grid transmission and battery technology, and push for power production froom solar, wind, geothermal, and tidal sources as replacements for fossil-fuel and nuclear technologies.

Environmental Justice

The Environmental Justice Group recognizes that socially and economically disadvantaged communities face the greatest risks and, over time, suffer the worst impacts of climate change and contaminants in air, water, and food. We push for laws and regulations that provide equal protection for all from environmental health hazards.

Municipal Solid Waste

Plastics - Producer Responsibility - Green/Solid Waste

The Municipal Solid Waste Group takes action on solid waste issues, emphasizing recycling, composting food waste, reducing use of single-use plastics, and putting plastic-product life-cycle responsibility on producers. Our actions are focused on educating the public on the environmental costs and health impacts of plastics.

National LWV Positions in Brief
