About this event

Join us for an evening with the LWVLC Civil Liberties & Rights Team and Alasdair Whitney, Legislative Counsel for the Institute for Justice.

Learn about license plate reader (ALPR) technology and how to support statewide legislation to regulate these systems.

Attendees will learn:
1. What ALPRs capture, how long data is retained, who can search, how data moves across statewide and national networks, and the risks this data sharing carries.
2. The substance of a bill expected to be introduced by Sen. Judy Amabile (District 18) in the upcoming legislative session.
3. How to engage with the local and state policy making processes, and the tools for local advocacy.

Please join us for a unique opportunity to engage with the Institute for Justice, a national nonprofit civil liberties firm that protects Constitutional rights, including the right to be free from warrantless mass surveillance, on how we can all work to protect our individual privacy rights here in Larimer County and in Colorado.
