CL&R March Meeting Announcement

Please join the Civil Liberties & Rights Team for its March meeting, Saturday March 21st at 9-10:30 a.m. at the Council Tree Library in the Front Range Village shopping center, 2733 Council Tree Ave in Fort Collins. We will be hearing reports from our small group action teams, working on issues around mass surveillance, elections access, civics education, and team sustainability/support.

Team member Marge Norskog will share more about her work with the City of Fort Collins surrounding their contract with the Flock Corporation and the potential civil liberties dangers of their Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system. The Fort Collins City Council will be discussing their relationship with Flock at their April 7th meeting, which presents an opportunity for team members and LWVLC to engage in direct advocacy with the council.

We’ll also discuss monitoring local elected bodies through the LWVLC Citizens Observer Corps, and recruiting additional volunteers to cover city councils and relevant commissions. And we’ll discuss how we liaise with other LWVLC and LWVCO teams, committees, and task forces, as well as partner organizations.

Register on the calendar and come be a part of local efforts to defend civil liberties in Larimer County.
