| Give the Best Gift Ever - A Membership in the League!
Just in time for the holidays, you can now give the gift of LWV membership! Any League member can purchase a gift membership for someone else directly in the LWV Member Portal.
To purchase a gift membership, log in to the portal at portal.lwv.org. You will see a “Grow Our Community” box, which includes a button to purchase a gift membership (see below). Click “Gift,” and you’ll be taken to a form where you can enter the member’s information, choose their League, and select the dues amount you’ll pay for them. Note that the membership can be purchased in another League for those not living near us!
Recipients of gift memberships will be sent a welcome email from League of Women Voters of the United States. The purchaser will also be notified and given the opportunity to buy a gift membership in future years as well. | | An Update for Members on the Civil Liberties and Rights Team, Education Team and Legislative Action Group
The Board of Directors would like to share an update regarding two Issues Teams and our League’s Legislative Action Group. After several requests, we have been unable to identify leaders to coordinate the Civil Liberties and Rights Team, the Education Team, and the Legislative Action Group. Leadership is essential for maintaining active, effective teams.
As a result, we will be removing both Issues Teams and the Legislative Action Group from the Member Interest Form and potentially from our website to ensure our materials accurately reflect our current organizational structure. Should member interest and leadership emerge in the future, we remain open to reestablishing these teams.
We sincerely appreciate the passion and commitment our members bring to all areas of League work. Thank you for your understanding and your ongoing support of our mission. | Stay Vigiligent Against Scammers
Watch out for scammers posing as League leaders and asking for time, a favor, or money! Remember these important tips!
- Pay attention to the sender's email address.
- Ask yourself: "Why does this League member need this from me?"
- Don't buy or sign anything unless you have confirmed that it is legitimate.
- Don't reply to suspicious email.
- Don't click on links or phone numbers in suspicious emails.
- Delete suspicious emails.
Remember, no League leader will ever contact you out-of-the-blue and ask for your personal information or ask you to make a purchase. | Add LWVUS to Your Address Book
Across the country, some members are reporting that their email service provider sends renewal notices from League of Women Voters US to their “junk” email folder. To reduce the likelihood of this happening, you may want to add the LWVUS renewal notice email address to your address book: membership@lwv.org | League Zoom Account Available
We are pleased to let you know that the League has procured a Zoom account that can be used by League members for League meetings. This account integrates with our ClubExpress calendar.
The instructions for use of the Zoom account can be found here. In short:
• The individual scheduling the meeting for your team/group sets up the meeting in the League Zoom account using the instructions.
• The team/group submits a calendar entry form, noting that a Zoom meeting has been set up in the League account and should be integrated.
• The individual creating the calendar entry integrates the Zoom meeting and it becomes a part of the notice to registrants.
• The individual scheduling the meeting logs into Zoom at the time of the meeting and hosts the meeting.
We were able to obtain the League Zoom account at a very favorable nonprofit rate. You are not obligated to use the account if you wish to use your personal Zoom account instead. However, it is available for all League business. | 2026-2027 Program Planning Meeting
January 12, 2026
6:30 - 8:30 p.m. via Zoom
"Program Planning" and the "Positions" of the League are at the heart of its Mission and the foundation for our advocacy programs. The League takes action on an issue (such as election reform, health care, or affordable housing matters) only when we have a position at the local, state, or national level. To develop a position, members must study and come to consensus on an issue. This thorough, grassroots process ensures that our advocacy is well considered by a broad range of people, understood by members, and that we have a sense of the political environment.
We use our annual Program Planning meeting as a time to examine local, state and national positions as they relate to the work of our League. During the meeting, each Issues Team will present for 3 - 5 minutes on the focus of the Team's work in our 2026 - 2027 fiscal year and discuss whether the Team needs updated or new positions to support the work. Each Education and Support Group will have the option of providing a 2 - 3 minute update on their plans for 2026 - 2027, as well. Finally, we will review our League's existing advocacy positions to determine if any should be updated or sunset.

Tuesday, January 20, 2026
5:00 - 6:00 p.m. via Zoom
Colorado’s local journalism ecosystem is under immense pressure, and our democracy feels the impact.
Join us for a dynamic panel conversation on the future of local news, access to trusted information, and what communities can do to protect reliable reporting in every corner of our state.
This event is a follow-up to the documentary "Stripped for Parts: American Journalism on the Brink," currently streaming on Rocky Mountain PBS through December 31. We encourage you to watch in advance so we can dive deeper into the solutions and stories shaping Colorado’s news landscape.
PANEL DISCUSSION INCLUDING:
• A representative from The Colorado Sun (invited)
• Two additional Colorado newsroom leaders (TBA)
• Audience Q&A
Let’s come together to strengthen access to credible information and protect local journalism. You can register here. | Volunteer Opportunities!
Log into the website and take a look at those areas looking for volunteers on our Volunteer page. In addition to those noted, we are currently in need of individuals who would like to become the editor/publisher of either League Lines or Mid-Month Update.
